Waiting on my last name to change.......

Although I'm already married......
{{ I love you Will }}
there's a story behind this blog title.

As many of you don't know - I love John Mayer. I'm talking 2003 Rooms for Squares, douchebag dumped Taylor Swift, currently dating Katy Perry John Mayer. I know most people hate him - which I think is so stupid - but I just love him to death.

I waited and waited for tickets to go on sale and made sure I had great seats. Although we didn't have great seats, we were there. I was there.

With that being said, I took Layla, my mother, and Mandy to see John Mayer in Dallas last weekend.
OH.MY.GOSH. It was even better than I imagined. He didn't play many of his hits, but I was okay with that. Played some goodies from Rooms for Squares - so I was happy.

Now for the story behind the title of this post......

One of John's more popular songs is titled "Waiting on the World to Change" - I was trying to think of a cool shirt to wear, when it hit me. "Waiting on my last name to change" PERFECT!
Although, it didn't get us backstage or closer to the stage - everyone loved our shirts.

Happy Monday, y'all.

My first recipe post!

Evening y'all!

Hope you've had a fabulous week so far :) We've sure been busy in the Payne house.
Between The Voice being 2 hours long Monday and Tuesday and catching up on Revolution, we've been very busy.

I'm so excited to share my first recipe post with y'all!
We're a pretty normal Texas family; steak, potatoes, and cold iced tea is a frequent dinner around here. Although, tonight I decided to change it up a bit and luckily Will loved it!
Here we go!

Tater-tot Casserole

First thing, you'll need the following:

1 lb of Hamburger Meat
5 Cups of Tater-tots
1 Can of Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 Tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tablespoons of Ketchup
1/4 Cup of Chopped Onions

1. Brown 1 lb of hamburger meat

2. While the hamburger meat is cooking, mix 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, and 1/4 cup of chopped onion in a bowl

3. Place the 5 cups of tater-tots in your pan of choice, and outline the pan with tater-tots. After you've done this, take all the remaining tater-tots and hamburger meat, mix them in the bowl with your "sauce"
Here's what I used :)

Outline 'em!

No Tater-tot left behind :)
4.  After mixing well, put this tater-tot goodness in the middle of your pan, evenly, and cook in the oven heated to 425F for 25 minutes.
Before.....
6. Here's the finished project! Serve it up and enjoy!!!

I hope you and your family enjoy this yummy, quick recipe as much as we did! I can't wait to make it again.

Happy Tuesday y'all!

I'm Blue.....

I'm sure that the title of this post made you think of the Eiffel 65 song, Blue :) But! that's not why I named this post "I'm Blue....."

Last night, Will and I went to see The Blue Man Group!
I saw them once, in Vegas, I was like 10 years old though...... I just remember having so much fun! As soon as I heard that they were coming to Midland, I had to get tickets!

Our seats weren't great, by any means, but atleast we got to go. While we were waiting for the show to start, I read through the program. I never knew how many people it took to put on this show. In the middle of reading the program, I discovered that one of the members of the show, you'll see him later, played with Third Eye Blind, one of my favorite bands!!!! So cool!

Will was a little apprehensive about the whole situation, but admitted after that he had a great time and would love to go back! We'll definitely be looking for them next time they're in town, or we're somewhere close.

Here's some pictures of our night :)

The guy to my left - from your view - is the guy who played with Third Eye Blind!!!
We had such a good time, I really can't wait to see them again!

With that being said, I'm off to bed. I mistakenly offered to go to breakfast with some company people who are in town....... I don't even wake up until 7:15am and I have to meet them at 7am! What was I thinking?!?!

Ugh, goodnight y'all! Have a great weekend

Cara Box Reveal!

Happy Weekend!

Since my husband is on call this weekend, I figured it'd be the perfect time to post my Cara Box Reveal post!

If you've never heard of Cara Box, you can learn about it here! I heard about it from my friend, Whitney. I'm so excited to share what I sent and received!

What I sent to Jessie

After getting to know Jessie through her blog and numerous e-mails, I found out the following key things about this sweet girl:
  1. She has a sweet fur-baby - Eve Belle
  2. She loves anything Disney
  3. She's a writer - such a cool profession
With that being said, our Cara Box theme for April was none other than Eco-Friendly!
Here's a picture of what I sent her....

I tried to find something Eco-Friendly/Disney for Mrs. Jones, but didn't have any luck! After placing multiple Disney stickers on her Cara Box items, I found a Disney font to type her letter of encouragement in!

Sara, over at Binkie. Burpie. Bib. was my sender for my April Cara Box. She is a first time mom, new to the blogworld!

Here is a picture of what she sent me....
She sent me a homemade chevron bag, 3 doggie bandanas for Cayley, Luna, and Riggs, and organic Mac-N-Cheese.

I really enjoyed getting to know these two girls, can't wait for the May Cara Box.

Hope y'all have a great Saturday night!

Getting Involved......

Evening friends!

Hope y'all have had a good week; I think Monday has hit me in the face more than once this week.

I try hard to not get political on here, but I am so excited about what I've experienced the past week, I just have to share!

Back in January, Will and I were watching television together, when I noticed an unusual commercial come across the screen. It said "Come help us celebrate! Midland County Democrats"; I looked at Will and squealed "OMG WILL THERE ARE OTHERS!!!!!! I HAVE TO GO!!!!!". Now, for most of you, you may think what on earth is she so excited about..... Midland, TX is known as the "Oil & Gas Capital" and "Home of George Bush"..... so Democrats are hard to come by around here, atleast I thought!

That night, I met so many wonderful people. People who are so involved, passionate, and excited about what they do. I just loved it!

Last Thursday, I met with the League of Woman Voters of Midland County and met another group of wonderful people. Tonight, I met with the Midland County Democratic Party and got so excited about getting involved. I've kept to myself the past 2 years of being in Midland, but decided it's time to get out, get to know people, and get involved.

Please don't hold what I'm about to post against me, but I can't keep it in.

It's time, Texas.

Happy weekend friends!

A weekend full of paint fumes and ballet!

Evening y'all!

Hope everyone had a safe, funfilled weekend!

My best friend, Layla, and her kiddos came to town this weekend to start painting their new house! I was so excited to help! Although I'm not a good painter, I was atleast good company.

After all the painting was done, we took Romi to the Midland Festival Ballet's performance of Giselle!
We had an absolute blast.

Lastly, one of my favorite restaurants finally came to Midland/Odessa!
The Cork and Pig Tavern

How could you turn down a pizza like this?
Fabulous.

My Carabox match, Mrs. Jones, got her Carabox today! I was so excited to hear from her; I sure hope you enjoy everything, sweet girl!
I can't wait to post about what I sent her, and see her reveal post! EEK!

Happy Monday, y'all!

Five Things...

My friend, Brittany, posted a "Five Things" post that I thought was a great idea; Especially with being new to the blogworld and most of my readers!

Make sure check Britt out, she has a wonderful blog and a super cute kiddo, Bear!

1. In 2010, I got bit by a snake! That isn't something everyone can say, and it's something I wish I couldn't say! While Will and I were taking our engagement pictures, I decided it was time to change clothes... little did I know I'd have a "friend" there, waiting to bite me! The initial bite wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.....and I really didn't even know it was a snake until the next day! My foot was huge. That is the kind of pain you never, ever forget.
 2.  I have kept every concert tshirt I've ever had. My first concert was The Spice Girls, I know.... I was such a cool kid. I still have the shirt! I have a concert tshirt for almost every concert I have ever been to, and have probably 75+ tshirts!
Here is one of my senior pictures from high school!
3.  After high school, I decided college just wasn't for me, so I went to the Aveda Institute of San Antonio. I really enjoyed it; but later learned it wouldn't pay the bills in a town like Midland. 1,500 hours later, I graduated from AISA with my cosmetology license.

After a 1940's photoshoot

4.  I have an obsession with koozies. I know this is a weird one, but it's something I've never shared with y'all before! I have a drawer full of them in our kitchen, another drawer full in our bedroom, and you'll always find one or two in my purse. I'm not sure how this happened, but it did and I can't seem to stop it! I even keep them at my desk in my office! :)
This is the only picture I could find of some of my koozies!
5.  Last, but not least, my dad was in the band America. Therefore, I grew up very musically. There's something just really neat about seeing my dad play onstage. Although he isn't a part of the band anymore, every once in a while, he'll go to a show and play "Horse with no name". My dad has some pretty cool and crazy stories...... and he's one of the best bassists I've ever heard.
Daddy and John Stamos                                Just an awesome picture

America getting their Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Hope y'all have enjoyed this post, it sure was hard coming up with 5 things!

Happy almost Friday!!!

There are some things I'll never understand......

Evening everyone!

This blog post is coming to you straight from my couch, which has all 3 of my furbabies taking up most of the room. You'll see why that information is important later.

This past weekend, I went to work for visit my mother, who just happens to own the Sweetwater Performing Arts Center in good ole' Sweetwater, TX. Recital is around the corner, and costumes are here! I was up till about 3:30AM this morning finishing costumes...... ugh! I'm exhausted.

Saturday, my mother and I went to Abilene, TX to pick up a few last minute things for parent observation (which is this coming week!) and run around. We picked up my mother's friend, Linda, and made the mistake of going to Petsmart. This past weekend was the largest adoption event in West Texas, of course I'd end up there. We spent a good hour walking around, talking ourselves out of adopting a dog.... which wasn't easy. This my friends, brings us to the reason I named this blog post "There are some things I'll never understand...."

Today, when I was getting ready to leave Sweetwater, my mother and I were standing at my car, giving our "goodbye" hugs when we noticed her neighbors across the street were outside. They have had 1 dog (pitbull mix) chained on a small lead for atleast 4 years..... he doesn't seem to have much shelter, and is very skinny. He's dug a hole so deep under his fence he can WALK under it and sit on the other side. NOT OKAY. The other one is a newer addition, a black pitbull mix, who is chained just like the other, only to the opposite side of the fence, towards the alley. We stand there and watch this teenager "play" with the black pitbull. Hitting it with a waterhose and letting the dog grab on and swing it around. Mind you, this dog is STILL chained. Finally, a few minutes later, after hitting the dog a few more times, he lays the waterhose over the dogs back of the neck and leaves. I yell to him "I sure hope that dog doesn't get caught in the waterhose and choke itself!!!" he then replied (stupidly) "Oh, my bad." I then proceeded to chew him out. Where is that dog's shelter?!?!?!!? Where is his water and food?!?! You know what he had the nerve to say "His shelter is inside the house" I was FURIOUS by this point. That dog, nor the other, has NEVER been anywhere else but that damn backyard, chained to that stupid runline! You damn right I told him that too!

I just don't understand, why would someone get a dog to only chain it up outside? I know everyone has different views of dogs, and their places in a family. Some people believe that dogs are only meant to be outside, while some don't even care if their dog sticks around or not.

After I got in my car to leave, all I could think about was the poor dogs and cats at the adoption event in Abilene; oh how I hope each and every one that got adopted went to a good, loving, caring home, unlike the neighbors I mentioned earlier.

My "dogs" are part of my family; they are one of us. No, they may not walk on two legs or pick up after themselves, but they are my world; my life; my family. It kills me everytime I go to my mother's house to see the dogs across the street, I wish I could just take them away from that place and show them what a good home is.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Happy National Sibling Day!

Happy Wednesday y'all!

Incase you didn't know, today is National Sibling Day!

Since my mother did it right the first time, she never saw the need to have another child. Luckily, my dad (well step-dad but he's my daddy) had 2 other daughters before me. They are a little bit older than me, so when I came around, they were grown and on their own.

My oldest sister, Miki, lives in Houston, TX with her awesome hubby, Zack, and kiddo, Cale! My other sister, Lindsay, lives in Apalachicola, FL with her son, West.

We may not see much of eachother or be very close but I am thankful each and everyday for my "second chance" to have siblings!

Happy National Sibling Day to my sisters!

New car, a squirrel, and a wedding.

What a blog title, right?
It pretty much sums up the weekend for this Payne family.

About a month ago (I know, I'm sorry!) I got in a wreck. Nothing major, but I'm one of those people who can't drive a car once it's been in a wreck..... it just freaks me out. SO! after much debating, I decided on what kind of new car I was going to get......
2012 Mazda CX-9
I'll try to get a better picture later :)

I absolutely love this car! It's just big enough to fit everyone I need in it! I've had plenty of cars over the past 7 years..... A Saturn, Nissan Sentra, VW Jetta, Honda Fit, Dodge 1500 (well kind of... I drove it but it was really Will's!), Kia Sportage, and now a Mazda CX-9.

We took it on it's first Payne Family Trip this weekend and the kids loved it! We laid the back seats down and had tons of room for them! Cayley and Luna passed out on their bed; Riggs on the other hand wasn't too sure about this whole long car ride thing.... he got used to it though.

Which now brings me to my next section of my blog header.... Squirrel.
Riggs is the biggest dog my family has ever, EVER had. My mother,  grandmother, and myself all have small dogs..... We all love Riggs to death, but he's definitely different from the small babies!

Friday night, we all loaded up for a quick trip to Sweetwater to drop off the kiddos. We got there pretty late, around 9p.m. so it was already dark outside. I'm in the kitchen, talking to my dad and coloring my mom's hair when we all see Riggs come through the doggy-door. Next thing you know, Will is yelling at Riggs, "Riggs, NO! Drop it now!" then here comes Will, in the kitchen with a dead squirrel!!!! This is something our small babies would have never been able to do...... and I'm sure Riggs thought it was a toy, since we always buy him "hunting" toys. He made his daddy proud, for sure.

Saturday morning, we were off to Fredericksburg for Will's older sister's wedding. I sure wish it wasn't so far, we were both so tired all day. I finally got to meet Will's cousins, Heidi and Randy!

We finally made it home tonight, and it's taking all I've got to write this post! :(

OH! One thing I forgot, I signed up for my first Cara Box Exchange
I am so excited :) Can't wait to get to know my April match, you can find her here.

Too much work.... not enough play.

Hi y'all!

I know it's been a while since I've blogged.... Sorry!

I saw this on Whitney & Brittany's blog, and thought, what the heck?! It's about time I post on here, and since I forgot my SD card at work, this'll be great!

I'm afraid of everything, seriously. My main fears are being alone, getting in a wreck, cockroaches, and guns.

Q = Favorite Quote?
" I am and always have been pro-choice, and that is not a right any of us should take for granted. There are a number of forces at work in our society that would try to turn back the clock and undermine a woman's right to choose and we must remain vigilant."

Hand - righty

A weekend with friends

Although weekends may be something that most families look forward to, I look forward to every other weekend. Yes, I get my "heck yes it's Friday!" mood at work on Friday's but with Will being on call every other weekend, I tend to look more forward to those.

This past weekend, my best friend, Layla came to Midland to start her house-hunt in Midland! I'm so excited that she's moving to Midland, it's not even funny. Layla has been my friend for aaaalmost 9 years! Everyone has a few best friends, but Layla is my go-to, number 1, sister from another mister best friend. We've been there through thick and thin for eachother, and I'm so glad to have her, and her family, closer to us.

2007
2008
Also, this past weekend, Will's best friend, Jerrot came down to visit! He lives in Guthrie, TX so it was great to see him! We don't get to see him often due to his and Will's job, we definitely enjoyed his company.

While Will, Stephen, and Jerrot went to the Odessa Boat, Gun, and RV show, Layla and I ran around town, doing a little shopping and a lot of looking! Saturday night, Will and I decided to take our "guests" out to The Bar (a must go to place when you visit Midland, in my opinion) for some good food and drinks.

2013 :)

Jerrot and Will, clearly Will didn't think whatever Layla said was as funny as Jerrot did.

Layla and Stephen
Nothing like spending time with the ones you love most (all that was missing was my Momma).

Happy rest of the week, y'all!

Three is currently a crowd......

Let's just start off by saying that I was not raised with dogs. Surprising, I know.
When I was younger, we had 2 cats, a hamster (that I'd rather not talk about), a turtle, and 2 sugargliders. It wasn't until I was 15 that I finally talked my mom into getting a puppy.

Now, 8 years later, my 2 girls (Cayley and Luna) are my life. If I could convince Will that being a stay at home poodle mom was a good idea, it's for sure what I'd be doing. My desk at work is full of pictures of my girls, and my clients usually think I have 2-legged instead of 4-legged babies! I've had Cayley since she was a puppy...about 3 months old, and Luna came to us when she was 1 year and 1 month old. The girls are only 6 months apart, so they have become very close, yet are sooooo different.

On January 10, 2013, I saw a Facebook post from a local Facebook group called "Pets around Midland" with a precious picture of a 5 year old red heeler that needed a home, or else would be put down. Will had a blue heeler, Tex, when we first got together, who shortly after had to be put down. He was Will's world, it was probably one of the hardest decisions we've had to make. Ever since, no heeler was good enough to be part of our home. I thought to myself, "Although he isn't a blue heeler, maybe Will would go for it." and sure enough, I was right.

After meeting this sweet 5 year old red heeler, there was no turning back. Riggs is now a Payne family member, regardless of how he feels about it. The first few nights were a little rough.... Riggs didn't understand that he was "home" now and sat by the front door all the time. Finally, he realized that we loved him as if he had been with us his whole life, and gave in to our hugs and kisses. As I lay in bed, typing this post, he's sitting on the edge of the bed making sure to have a clear view of me. He loves us so much now, I can just see it in his eyes and the way he lays himself on me. I often wake up to find him laying inbetween myself and Will, with his arms around one of us.

Riggs is my first "big dog" and it's still an adjustment. Not only for me, but for my girls. Cayley is clearly the alpha dog, and this has been established since day one. Luna came in to our home and knew that Cayley was alpha. Riggs, however, is having a hard time being accepted in the group. Even though dogs have no sense of size, my girls can definitely tell that Riggs is not a poodle. He also is having a hard time understanding that his slow walk is the equivalent to their run.

Luna and Riggs are currently trying to figure out who is "second in command". I'm sure that isn't the right term, but I'm not sure what else to call it. They have their good days, but definitely have their bad ones as well. Luna has "middle child syndrome" that's for sure.

Enough of my rambling, here's our newest member's sweet face!

Happy Monday y'all! :)

A recap of the past 3 months......kinda

Hello!

I know it's been a while since I've blogged; sorry about that! Incase you haven't heard, the "boom" is crazy in Midland; so between my work and what little time I have with Will..... I just haven't had a chance to get on here!

November
Will and I decided that we would treat Layla and Stephen to their first college football game, which just happened to be Tech vs. Texas (a game that we don't like to talk about). This was a birthday gift to myself, therefore Layla and Stephen (who are sadly Texas fans) had to wear Tech gear! :) They secretly loved it
Layla and Stephen, don't they look happy?
Waiting to grab a bite to eat before the game
Ohhhh Layla :)
This girl right here is my best friend; love her.
The week before Thanksgiving, Will and I took a trip to Corpus Christi, TX to visit his father's side of the family. I've never been to Corpus before; I fell in love! I wish we could move there, it was perfect. Will's Aunt and Uncle were kind enough to let us stay with them and show us around the town. We had a blast. I fell in love with Will's grandmother Claire, she's the sweetest!
Love this picture of all of us. Cayley just loved Grandma Claire!
Will's Aunt and Uncle took us to the Texas State Aquarium and I got to hold a Sea Urchin!
Loved the dolphin show :)
Had to :)
Uncle Randy, Aunt Gayle, and Will
Thanksgiving was at our house, as usual, since Will was on call. My mother and Grandmother drove down for the day and had a fun late lunch and watched football while I put up the Christmas tree! Per my posts earlier, I absolutely love Christmas time! :)

This is the only picture we got on Thanksgiving...... lort.
 December
December is always a busy month for us; with my family being so spread out and Will's being in Fredericksburg.
First thing - I finally got to see Bryan Adams in concert! He came to Odessa; I was in heaven. I had 5th row seats, and the set was an acoustic set; He played perfectly. Towards the end, he left the stage and then of course came back. He said that he wouldn't play until everyone filled the orchestra pit infront of him. I RAN up to the front, and here was my view, with NO ZOOM!
I WAS FRONT ROW CENTER!!!!!!!!!

Our next adventure was off to San Antonio for Chanukkah! Almost all of the Goldstein family gathered at my grandfather's house to spend the day. I just love getting together with everyone.

Friday night, Will and I took Goggie to services. It was Will's first time.... it was pretty entertaining for him :)
I was an only grandchild for quite some time..... and now finally have cousins! Excuse how I look... I think I had about 4 hours of sleep and was running on fumes.
On our way back to Midland, we stopped in Fredericksburg to see Will's family and exchange Christmas gifts.
Will and his dad checking out our Christmas gift; they had it made for us!
Will and his mother :)
Will's mother and I
Part of Will's family; just missing Tara and Laura
Finally, it was time for Christmas with my family :) We got to go to Sweetwater for once, and I really enjoyed it. I'll leave it to the pictures to tell the stories :)
Romi with one of her gifts from Aunt Weah and Uncle Wheel
Jake with one of his gifts... he clearly saw my intent of how to use them
Although Layla may kill me for posting this.... here's one of her gifts :) COFFEE!!!
This is my favorite picture of this whole post. Oh Stephen...
Me and my sweet daddy; thanks for photobombing it mom!
Christmas dinner :)
Will with all of his Christmas gifts
Daddy and his gifts
Mom with her gifts
Pmom with most of the babies; love Momma Toe's smile!

One more thing happened in the past 3 months.... but it requires it's own post.

I promise I'll be better about this! :)
